One call can change everything.

It did for Jim Littlefield-Dalmares.

In 2000, Jim Littlefield-Dalmares and his wife LeAnn were expecting a smooth Hallmark movie-style pregnancy and delivery of their first child. (Spoiler Alert: Hollywood lies! There is no “normal” anything including the parenting experience.) But as Jim prepared for a work retreat, a phone call sent him racing to the hospital where he met his wife, 25 weeks pregnant, and shortly afterward held his tiny daughter, Sophia, who weighed just one pound, eight ounces.

It would be his baby girl who was clinging to life that would later ignite Jim’s charge to support families like theirs… ones raising children with differing abilities.

His mission is a shared mission, and one he invites you to join. Seeing Ability (along with its podcast and foundation) was born from that pivotal moment—a commitment to empower and uplift families facing similar challenges. Join Jim in building a village that celebrates and supports the unique potential within every child.

Meet Jim

Jim Littlefield-Dalmares believes worlds are created from the lens in which we choose to see them. And he chooses (and encourages others to choose) to see each person not by what holds them back, but rather their abilities!

As a marketing and fundraising professional, he helped change lives working for his local United Way, as well as a national environmental charity. And, for over a decade, he advocated for children with special needs as head of marketing and fundraising for the Kids Center for Pediatric Therapies in Louisville, Kentucky.

As the founder of Seeing Ability, Jim hosts a podcast, has authored a book, and leads the Seeing Ability Foundation which offers support to families with special needs children.

Seeing Ability nails the most important thing to me as a doctor—the parent/provider partnership—with the parent as the team lead. Jim provides an excellent mix of practical advice and inspirational stories. I also agree with the advice to feel the emotions on this path. The book is a great resource for parents. It should be required reading for medical professionals.”
